Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest 2014

Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest 2014

Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest 2014

Many thanks to the PCA Hurricane Region staff & crew for inviting me yesterday to speak about basic detailing principles. If you are curious, this is a once a year event featuring beautiful Porsches in the Raleigh, Durham, Cary, & North Carolina Area:

All Porsche and other exotic car owners are invited to the annual Hurricane Region Porsche Club of America OktoberFest on Sunday October 5, 2014.  OktoberFest is an afternoon event filled with people, cars and refreshments and gives you a chance to enjoy some of the area’s finest automobiles.   This is a low-key “wash and show” event, so no need to get out the Q-Tips and white gloves to show your car.

As in years past, we will be holding OktoberFest at the picnic area at Montague Lake in the Cary / Raleigh area.  Montague’s is located at 10301 Penny Road, just east of the intersection of Penny Road and Kildaire Farm Road.

New Car Opticoat: Silver TESLA MODEL S 85

New Car Opticoat: Silver TESLA MODEL S 85

Vehicle: Tesla Motors – Silver Model S 85

Condition: This fine Tesla Model S 85 was recently delivered in Raleigh, in for new car detail and Opticoat detail. Only issues we encountered were a few deep scratch areas near the rear door and trunk. Plenty of shipping adhesive residue near the doors and front of the hood. We spent some time Q-Tipping the front air dam area due to the bug build up. Claybar revealed the rear and roofline to be the worst areas. This Model S was in great shape, a rarity from most Teslas we’ve done. Interior was thoroughly vacuumed and wipe down with a light cleaner. Front trunk paint and trim cleaned with OptiClean.

BMW ZHP Silver with Wheel Iron Deposit Removal

VEHICLE TREATMENT:

BMW 330 ZHP E46 Dark Silver in for a general level 1 clean & protection detail. We decided to attack the iron deposit/brake dust issues on the wheels by using CarPro Iron X & Iron X Paste. Instead of using Acid on the wheel, deionizing the wheel safely with repeated safe applications really deep cleaned the wheel. We also treated the alcantara with Leather Master’s Nubuck Eco Protector.

BMW M5 E60 Metallic Sapphire Black Paint Enhancement

BMW M5 E60 Metallic Sapphire Black Paint Enhancement

VEHICLE TREATMENT:

E60 BMW M5 Sedan black metallic paint polish enhancement treatment. Our approach was to enhance the paint by removing the light and medium defects. This vehicle has 70000 miles and was originally in Virginia. On top of a brutal climate, the vehicle previously had a full body vinyl wrap. Our time was spent mostly removing the glue on every edge besides completing a thorough paint polish. Despite quite a few deep scratches especially on the lower sides and rear bumper, the paint was leveled in high traffic areas and fully polished for high gloss. For the age we’re happy and the pictures show the beast waiting to hit the streets. Glue removal was a test of patience, we went through a complete bottle of Tarminator & Adhesive Remover.

Car Revival: 2004 Infiniti G35 Black with Paint Correction

Car Revival: 2004 Infiniti G35 Black with Paint Correction

Black Infiniti Revival Detail

Vehicle & Condition

This 2004 Infiniti G35 underwent a serious transformation due to neglect from the previous owner. We had to deal with overall dirt from being left underneath a tree, tons of paint chipping/gauges, paint splatter loss, and absolutely no protection for the vehicle. Our goal was to revive the vehicle without going concours style. Client requested if the headlights could be restored and Infiniti letters de-badged, both completed!
