Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest 2014

Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest 2014

Many thanks to the PCA Hurricane Region staff & crew for inviting me yesterday to speak about basic detailing principles. If you are curious, this is a once a year event featuring beautiful Porsches in the Raleigh, Durham, Cary, & North Carolina Area:

All Porsche and other exotic car owners are invited to the annual Hurricane Region Porsche Club of America OktoberFest on Sunday October 5, 2014.  OktoberFest is an afternoon event filled with people, cars and refreshments and gives you a chance to enjoy some of the area’s finest automobiles.   This is a low-key “wash and show” event, so no need to get out the Q-Tips and white gloves to show your car.

As in years past, we will be holding OktoberFest at the picnic area at Montague Lake in the Cary / Raleigh area.  Montague’s is located at 10301 Penny Road, just east of the intersection of Penny Road and Kildaire Farm Road.

Korean Microfiber Towels

Korean Microfiber Towels

Korean Microfiber Towels

Korean microfiber towels are the golden standard in auto detailing due to their longevity, softness, and absorption. With proper microfiber cleaning care, towels can last up to 300-500 regular washes. Microfibers are amazing, they are anti bacterial, non linting, absorb huge volumes of liquid, dry fast, and can clean dust, dirt, water, grease, or oil with simply water. Most importantly, they are far finer than the softest cotton towel available and absorb a huge amount of dirt on any car surface.

You may have heard a distinction between “Korean Made” and “Chinese Made” microfiber towels. What’s the difference in price, quality, distribution, colors, or sourcing?

Guide to Microfiber Towel Care

Ultimate Microfiber Towel Care Guide

How do you clean microfiber towels? Microfiber towel care is by far the most important maintenance for your cleaning supplies. This is Part 1 of the Liquid Finish Detailing’s complete microfiber guide. Great quality Korean microfiber towels can last up to 500 washes if properly cared for. However, polyester and polyamide fibers are very sensitive to improper cleaning regimens. Spoiling hundreds of dollars worth of towels can happen at any moment. In this microfiber care guide we will review:

  • how not to care for your towels
  • the available detergents on the car detailing market
  • proper drying procedures
  • the importance of white vinegar as a rinse agent
  • proper task separation of each microfiber you own
  • occasional “boiling water” reset procedures
  • small-scale hand washing procedures
